Dublin

Dublin

As the capital, Dublin city is situated at the mouth of River Liffey in Leinster Province. The city has served as a historical, administrative, industrial, and educational center listed as a global city in 2018. The city grew through the 18th century following the development of new districts and buildings including the Royal Exchange, Parliament House, and Merrion Square. During the modern era, the city served as a center of administration and a transport hub currently hosting the government headquarters. Geographically, the city is located at the mouth of River Liffey and enjoys a great scenery of nature with an urban side on the east. There are many green spaces in the city and public parks such as St Anne’s Park and Phoenix Park. 

Cork

Located in the southwest of Ireland, Cork city is the second-largest city in the Republic of Ireland. Historically, the city began as a monastic settlement in the 6th century which later grew into an important trade center in the Scandinavian network. The city has a great cultural array with the modern Crawford College of Art and Design. Cork hosts several rock musicians and bands including John Spillane, Rory Gallagher, and Micro Disney among others. Another area of interest is the wide variety of local traditional foods including crubeens, tripe, and drisheen. The English Market in the town sells local foods such as fruit, groceries, artisan cheese, and fresh fish. Another place of interest in the city is the architecturally outstanding buildings with the representation of both the Medieval and Modern ages such as the Red Abbey. The city has two cathedrals hence Christianity is the main religion.

Limerick

Limerick city is situated in the Midwest Region and among the main cities in Ireland with a Metropolitan District carrying a population of 104,952. Main attractions in the city include the Limerick City Museum, St Mary’s Cathedral, and the University of Limerick, which were built during the Medieval era. In addition, the city center has traditional areas of English town including King Johns Castle and the Irish town with older streets in the south.

Galway

Galway is a city in the western region situated along River Corrib and among the most populous cities with a recent census recording a population of 79,934. The city is located close to an earlier settlement hence is popular among the locals and a major tourist destination that hosts several festivals and celebrations including the Galway Arts Festival. Some of the commonplaces of interest include Lynch’s Castle which is a medieval townhouse and the Church of Ireland St Nicholas Collegiate Church. The remains of the Menio Castle are visible outside the city while the oldest part of Galway, the Claddagh is another point of interest. Other than that, the city is richly endowed with a strong transport network as well as markets for products. 

Waterford

Waterford

The Irish city is located southeast of Ireland in Munster province at the head of Waterford Harbor with an ideal place to reside. As the tenth most populous settlement on the island, the city is ideal for visiting as well as a fine place for residence. Home to Waterford Crystal, a glassmaking industry, the city was initially established by Viking raiders in 853. Over the years, the town has grown into a modern industrial and administrative city with the famous Waterford Harbor. The city hosts several public buildings including the Waterford Museum of Treasures, Reginald’s Tower, Mount Sion Museum, and the House of Waterford Crystal.
