Afghan nationals must get a Schengen visa for Portugal. The typical length of stay is only 90 days, and the visa expires after that time. Portugal is a member of the European Union. For three months, EU nationals are allowed access to launch a business or look for work. Once hired, EU citizens have the same rights as Portuguese workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Portugal is a member of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.immigration-residency.eu\/blog\/the-schengen-are\/\"> the Schengen Area, <\/a>a group of 26 countries in Europe without border controls. Citizens in the Schengen area can travel freely between countries without a passport. In addition, an ID is all that is needed to enter Portugal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Types of Portuguese visas<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are three categories of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.immigration-residency.eu\/blog\/traveling-to-portugal-visa-requirements\/\">Portuguese visas:<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Schengen visas, often known as short-stay visas, are valid for up to 90 days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>National Temporary Stay Visas are valid for stays of up to one year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Long-term national visas also called residency visas\u2014are issued for stays of more than a year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Short-stay Portuguese visas<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Schengen Visa, often known as the Short Stay Visa, is valid for stays of up to 90 days in any 180 days. It may be issued for brief or irregular stays in Portugal for business, vacation, family visits, temporary employment, airport transit, or other reasons. For as long as your Schengen Visa is valid, you are free to travel throughout the Schengen Area nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You must apply for a Schengen visa at the Portuguese embassy or consulate in your country no later than 15 days and no more than six months before your trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The standard cost of a short-stay Schengen visa is \u20ac80. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 pay a discounted rate of \u20ac40. In some nations, you can be required to pay an extra service fee, which, in most situations, shouldn&#8217;t be more than half the usual visa amount. In other words, the service charge cannot exceed \u20ac40 (or \u20ac20 for kids 6 to 12).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>General Short Stay visa<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This 90-day visa can be used for a variety of things, including travel, visiting relatives, and transient employment or business. The following must be included with your application form:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Valid ID such as a passport<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Passport photo<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proof of health insurance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proof that you can financially support yourself for the duration of your stay<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Return ticket reservation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Details of where you will be staying, for example, hotel reservation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If applicable, include verification of the purpose of your journey, such as information about a business conference or documentation of any relatives who may be present in Portugal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Airport Transit visa<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is allowed to enable movement between flights in an airport&#8217;s international region without going through the Schengen Zone.
