Ambassador

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary posted to Chechia at the United States of America embassy is His Excellency (H.E.) Mr. Ho Minh Tuan

Ambassador Ho Minh Tuan was born on August 1961 in Hanoi. He graduated BA programme at the Institute for International Relations (now is Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam) in 1983. Later, he gained a Postgraduate Diploma on Political Theories at the National Academy of Public Administration. He can speak English and Japanese fluently. He is married with three children.

In December 2014, he was entitled as Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

In May 2015, he was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Czech Republic. Ambassador Ho Minh Tuan came to the Czech Republic on May 2017.

From 2009 – 2012, he was posted to the Embassy of Vietnam in Tokyo, Japan as Minister Counsellor, then Minister, Deputy Chief of Mission. Upon completion of mission, from 2012 – 2017, he was appointed as Director General, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Executive Committee, Office of Party and Mass Organisation Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Upon more than 30 years working in diplomacy, Ambassador Ho Minh Tuan has been working as Desk Officer at Department of Northeast Asia and Department of UNESCO and Cultural Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1983 – 1994. From 1994 – 1997, he served as Third Secretary, then Second Secretary at the Embassy of Vietnam in Tokyo, Japan. In 1998, he came back to work as Desk Officer and later, in the year of 2000, he was promoted to be Permanent Secretary, then Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO and Assistant Director General, then Deputy Director General of the Department of UNESCO and Cultural Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

About the embassy

The Czech Republic and Viet Nam formally established diplomatic relations on February 2, 1950. Since then, bilateral relations between the two countries have developed strongly and sustainably in many areas, from diplomatic politics to business. Economy, trade, investment, culture, tourism, labor, education and training. In 2017, the Chairman of the National Assembly, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, paid an official visit to the Czech Republic (April 11-14), and the President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, paid a state visit to Vietnam (June 6 and 6).

One of the important links for Vietnam - Czech development - is a community of almost 60,000 Vietnamese who live, study and work in the Czech Republic. In recent years, the Vietnamese community continues to integrate deeply into Czech society, on the one hand; on the other hand, he constantly moves to his homeland and holds many activities to promote the Vietnamese culture in the Czech Republic.
