About the embassy

Supporting the everyday lives of Japanese citizens in Germany is one of the basic tasks of the embassy. Especially in connection with the guarantee of the security of our compatriots in this country, even after the terrible terrorist attack on a Christmas market in Berlin in December 2016, both in Germany and in other states time and again large and small terrorist attacks or acts of violence. The Embassy will continue to do its utmost to ensure the safety of our Japanese compatriots in this country. We ask the Japanese citizens to continue to inform themselves about the current security situation and to pay sufficient attention to their own security.

The Government of Japan is actively providing Japanese companies and local communities with diplomatic missions to showcase their products and to promote investment in Japan. Here in Germany, too, we strive for a "thresholdless and open message", and so we have provided companies from Japan and municipalities with spaces for their activities in the embassy and in the residence, for example. We would be glad if you could contact us without hesitation for advice.
