Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary posted to Czechia at the French Republic embassy is His Excellency (H.E.) Mr. M. Roland Galharague

During his career Mr. M. Roland Galharague has served in various capacities, among them:

Graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure, a graduate of German, an associate of Russian, a graduate of advanced studies in history of the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences, Roland Galharague was first secretary at the Embassy of France in Washington (1996-1999), head of the press service and spokesperson of the French Embassy in London (2002-2005), number two of the French Embassy in South Africa (2005-2008), and Ambassador of France in Budapest (2012-2015). In Paris, he was notably Deputy Director of the Center for Analysis and Forecasting (1999-2002), Director of Continental Europe (2008-2010), Deputy Director General of Political Affairs and Security at the Quai d'Orsay ( 2010-2012).

About the embassy

The French Embassy have to:

  • to monitor and analyze the foreign and domestic policy files of the Czech Republic in order to inform the French authorities;
  • to contribute to the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, notably by participating in the organization of official visits;
  • to inform, explain and promote France's positions with the Czech authorities;

To carry out these missions, Chancery agents maintain contacts with all actors in society (political and administrative officials, media, religious authorities, academics, etc.).

The Political Chancellery works in close collaboration with all the services of the Embassy (consular, economic, cultural, military, police, etc.) for which it coordinates.
