Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary posted to Spain at the Republic of Plurinational State of Bolivia embassy is His Excellency (H.E.) Mr. Jorge Ramiro Tapia Sainz

Ramiro Tapia has been recognized nationally and internationally for his professional and academic work. In 2009 he received the Award for Excellence in Public Health awarded by the 'International Training Center for Authorities and Leaders' (CIFAL) and the recognition of 'Reforesting our World' for his contribution to the First International Medical, Educational and Environmental Fair for World Water Day. In the public sphere, it obtained the recognition of the Confederation of Retired Teachers of Bolivia for the successful actions assumed as Minister of Health and Sports during the fight against the illicit elaboration and commercialization of medicines, as well as other recognitions of Social Organizations, Municipalities and Organizations of Human Rights.

His experience as a leader also covers his years as a student at UMSA. He was an executive of the Local University Federation (FUL) between 1987 and 1988, where he promoted the first Congress of the UMSA, assuming the representation of the institution in national and international events.

As a professional, he also stood out for his active professional participation. He was General Secretary of the Departmental Medical College of La Paz, member of the University Council of the UMSA, of the Medical Council and of the Medical College.

In the academic field, Ramiro Tapia worked as a University Professor and he chose the candidacy as Rector of the UMSA, where he was Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Head of Student Welfare, Professor of Embryology and Genetics and Professor of Medical Residency in Pediatrics, among others. twelve.

The official representation of the Plurinational State of Bolivia in Spain is made up of the Embassy based in Madrid, 6 Consulates and 1 Vice-Consulate in: Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Valencia, Murcia, Bilbao and Palma de Mallorca. The Embassy of Bolivia also has a Permanent Representation before International Organizations Headquartered in Spain, such as: The Ibero-American General Secretariat and the World Tourism Organization.

The main functions of the Embassy are:

  • Promote bilateral political, economic, cultural and scientific cooperation between Bolivia, Spain and Morocco.
  • Disseminate and increase knowledge of Bolivian culture.
  • Promote Bolivian foreign policy with a focus on democratic promotion, peacekeeping, sustainable development and human rights.
  • Promote bilateral trade and promote economic cooperation and scientific research.

The Embassy acts as legal interlocutor of Bolivia before Spain (Political Representation). He is the hierarchical superior of the Consulates and is in charge of protecting the public interests of Bolivians before the Spanish Government, within the limits allowed by International Law. He is responsible for the negotiations between Bolivia and Spain, in this sense seeks friendship ties between both states and encourages the development of economic, cultural and scientific relations. One of its functions is to inform itself about the general situation of Spain, keeping informed with periodic reports to the Bolivian Government.
