About the embassy

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Madrid has the main duties and functions to provide public services to Indonesian citizens who are domiciled in the Spanish accreditation area. Under certain conditions, the Indonesian Embassy can also provide public services to Indonesian citizens who are making short visits in the territory of Spain.

The types of public services provided by the Indonesian Embassy include:

  • PASSPORT;
  • Travel Letter Like a Passport (SPLP);
  • Self Report;
  • Document Legalization

Indonesia established Diplomatic Relations with Spain, in the month of February 1976. Previously, those relations had been conducted by the Diplomatic Representation of Indonesia accredited in France and based in in Paris.

The conducive situation in Spain's security and politics, as well as in Indonesia, allows for mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation. However, the conducive state of accreditation is two sides of one currency. On the one hand, as an advanced, more open democracy, offers more opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic field. But on the other hand, the open system allows various thoughts and movements to flourish in Spain. This will be a challenge for the Indonesian Embassy in Madrid to always wisely and measurably address and explain the developments taking place in the country, especially related to the domestic legal system applied in Indonesia.
